Cruel Sunrise stands as a musical high-water mark for Rick Holmstrom, showcasing his maturity and confidence in vocals, playing, and songwriting. This release is his most complete and accomplished solo recording to date. Having recorded six solo albums, Rick's previous work includes 2007's Late In The Night with M.C. Records. Over the past five years, he has toured and recorded with legendary vocalist Mavis Staples, earning a Grammy in 2010 for his contributions to her album 'You Are Not Alone,' produced by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco. Rick currently leads the band for Mavis Staples and will join her on a coast-to-coast summer tour with Bonnie Raitt.
